Hamilton, Bermuda, (February 19, 2018) – Argus today announces its $25,000 sponsorship of A Piece of the Rock’s new Community Outreach programme.
A Piece of the Rock, a prominent road safety documentary and campaign, is designed to raise awareness of the core issues related to road safety in Bermuda and encourage the public to take action and personal responsibility towards improving road safety for all.
As part of the Community Outreach programme, A Piece of the Rock’s documentary about the “unspoken epidemic” of road traffic crashes in Bermuda, will be the campaign’s centrepiece. There will be public screenings of the documentary at schools, sporting clubs, community clubs and churches. The campaign aims to demonstrate the importance of road safety and to provide a platform for community driven preventative action. Following the screenings, there will be panel discussions, debate about road safety and the opportunity for the public to engage as change agents in their spheres of influence.
John Doherty, Executive Vice President, Property & Casualty, of The Argus Group, says: “We are delighted to partner with A Piece of the Rock for its Community Outreach programme. At Argus, we are in the business of prevention and the campaign is doing crucial work to raise our awareness of safe driving in Bermuda. We hope our sponsorship of the Community Outreach programme will help to motivate discussion on this important topic.”
Shari-Lynn Pringle of A Piece of the Rock, says: “We are delighted to be working with Argus to promote road safety initiatives in Bermuda. Argus has been a key sponsor of A Piece of the Rock’s documentary and their renewed support will help us to broaden our community outreach efforts which are aimed at creating awareness on road safety and engaging young adults in particular to become active stakeholders.”
“We are hopeful that the road safety campaign will help foster a community of residents who are informed and considerate of road safety, which in turn will result in much needed and urgent legislative action and enforcement required to resolve the issue of road safety in Bermuda.”
